TV review: Randy Cunningham, 9th Grade NinjaSometimes I think that what Disney really wants, is to stop doing tv animation altogether. Kick Buttowski has been cancelled. Motorcity has been cancelled (not that I liked it much, but still). Craig McCrackens Wander Over Yonder is postponed. Gravity Falls is on hiatus, possibly until over Christmas, and Disney seems to have some difficulty acknowledging that show's massive popularity.
And yet, an all-new animated Disney series has slipped under my radar this autumn: Disney XD's Randy Cunningham 9th Grade Ninja. Yes, the title is trying to tell you way too much (his name, his age, and what makes him special), and it's a typical high concept: Junior high school student has been chosen to be the ninja protector of American everytown Norrisville, and with the aid of his funny, fat best friend and confidant, he fights an evil trio made up by a demonic wizard, a power-hungry billionaire and an evil scientist. It's a cliché storm, but it succeeds by being ever tounge-in-cheek.TV review: Randy Cunningham, 9th Grade Ninja by *Kinswaous

I was kind of interested in RC9GN because my friends and I thought Viceroy and Julian resembled Richard Ayoade and Noel Fielding, respectively. Then I got pulled in because of the awesome theme song and title cards. And now I can't stop watching it because it's a genuinely nice show.

Anyways, your posters and webcomic have the most beautiful colors

Thanks! And I believe the resemblance to Noel Fielding and Richard Ayoade were intentional - the Richard Ayoade one was for sure.

Yeah, I kind of remember reading one of Jhonen Vasquez's blog posts about designing Viceroy. Sometimes I worry that I get overly involved in cartoons, but I really think I want to pursue some kind of career in animation and everything about it interests me.
